What to do about a fever?

March 26, 2015, 12:16 AM
Q: We have a 12 week old Teacup Pomeranian that I think is running a fever because her tongue is really hot when she was licking my hand. Also, I've noticed that the pads of her paws are really warm. She did vomit twice today. How can I know if she does have a fever? What can I do for her?
A: Relying on "feel" to determine if your puppy has a fever is most often wrong. The best is to take her temperature. Watch the video on taking her temperature then let me know. What we might do about a fever and about vomiting is not the same please let me know.
