Problems with Sheath

November 15, 2018, 2:10 AM
Q: We have a 2.5 year old Havanese mix who regularly has Paraphimosis. Sometimes he can take care of it and other time I need to help by applying sugar and even help the sheath slide over the gland. At times, it gets very swollen and has blisters but I can help him. I'm concerned when we are away that this could become a health risk. Any words of advice? Thanks, Don.
A: I am not sure what “regularly” means. Many times parphimosis is caused by hair sticking inside the sheath, keeping the hair at the end of the sheath trimmed can help. Please let me know how often this happens and if he is neutered.
