Training and Feeding Teacup Puppies
August 5, 2013, 8:43 PM- Q: 2 questions: Can micro teacup puppies be potty trained to hold it for more than 8 hours eventually or is this an unrealiastic expectation from a small puppy? Can they be placed on a food schedule? ie. 3X per day?
- A: Yes teacup puppies can become"housebroken" where they hold elimination until you return home. This is a function of age, not size. Puppies do not have the ability to postpone elimination until at least 12 weeks of age. So far as a feeding schedule, once you are confident that your new puppy eats reliably for several days in a row you can start less frequent feedings. Three times during your awake hours is reasonable but go from more frequent feedings to less frequent gradually over several days.
