Eating Yard Stuff

April 2, 2014, 9:52 PM
Q: My little one is giving me anxiety. We take her out in the back yArd and she insists on putting any small pieces of pine bark pieces she finds in her mouth. We have had a few choking scares already. We don't have it everywhere. She's finding what's blown over in the yard from rain and such. What can we do to deter this?
A: While eating foreign stuff in the yard does cause concern it is unavoidable and rarely causes problems long term. Using a leash or restricting the area until it is "old hat" is the only solution.
