Round the clock feeding

February 3, 2018, 11:31 PM
Q: When does a puppy not need night feeding?
A: With a new arrival the most important thing is that they eat frequently, this means offering food each 1-2 hours during the day and at least once during the overnight. The need for overnight feeding depends largely on how well the puppy ate during the day and that there was a good meal prior to bedtime. I would recommend checking on the puppy and offering food during the night through the first 5-7 days, if your puppy eats regularly and well throughout the day leaving some dry food in with the puppy overnight may be all that is needed. After a couple weeks of adjustment you should be able to remove food at night.
