Sleeping too much?

November 2, 2019, 8:36 PM
Q: How often and long is ok for puppies to sleep when adjusting? My new pup (first full day), eats and almost passed out on my lap. It’s super cute, but want to make sure it’s ok. Today he’s eaten at 3am, 7:30, 10:30, 2, 4:45 (and the last two fell asleep after). He’s gone outside in my backyard, played inside and went with me on errands in a bag. So I’m sure a lot of excitement.
A: On average a new, young puppy should sleep approximately 2/3’s of the time. So that would be typically 20 minutes of play and 30 or more minutes of activity. If he is happy and eating well let him sleep whenever he wants.
