Best time to spay?

July 25, 2018, 10:18 PM
Q: What age do you recommend for a Cavalier King Charles to be spayed? One vet recommended about a year old . Others, around six months?
A: For that size and breed I would go with the 5 1/2 to 6 months. There are preventive medical advantages to spaying her before she comes in heat. It eliminates diseases of the uterus and ovaries and markedly reduces the risk of breast tumors.
