Training routine

Q: Hello, We are using the crate technique to potty train our 9 week old puppy. The normal routine for him is 2-3 hours in the crate then outside, then feeding, then outside again. Then back in the crate and repeat. We have been waiting for him to wake up or at least waiting for him to let us know he is awake before going to him. He's been pretty consistent with waking up 2 to 3 hours after being placed into the crate. Should we go to him at 2.5 hours so we wake him instead of having him whine and then we go and get him? Thank you.....
A: If you can get to him before he eliminates then waiting for him to notify you is okay.
