Crying in Kennel

March 8, 2017, 8:49 AM
Q: I have a 9 week old teady bear puppy. She cryes when she's put in her kennel. How long should I let her cry? She has toys, blanket in with her
A: Once you put her in her crate you have to walk away and you cannot go back unless she has been quiet for at least 30 minutes. If you start this routine from the very first time she is in her crate the crying will usually last less than an hour. If you have at times given in and gone back while she is crying the process will take longer. She has most likely spent time in a cage before but possibly not by herself. She needs to learn that you will be back but not because she is crying.
