Biting at Collar

January 16, 2015, 2:15 PM
Q: We haven't yet found a collar or harness that my 2 pound puppy doesn't bite at, and she nearly chokes herself when it gets stuck in her mouth. We've had to cut 4 of them off. Any ideas?
A: First of all, if she can get the collar in her mouth it is way too loose. Second, the only way to get her used to the collar is to leave it on. For her first collar a skinny, light weight leather or woven web is probably best. The more you have it on here the quicker she will adapt. If you are anxious about leaving it on at least always have it on when you are around her.
